My fitness level has really dropped off this past month following two bouts of illness.
No sooner had I recovered from a cold which had lasted about three weeks, I succumbed to a virus and was full of headcold, headache and general malaise for another 5 days.
I ran parkrun in Brighton two weeks ago in 20:30 which is a minute outside my best. I ran Eastbourne parkrun last week in 21:04 and yesterday I was back at Brighton and ran the 5k in 21:21.
So I need to get well and start training again if I am going to post anything like decent times in the upcoming races in September and October.
I have been cycling to and from parkrun recently so perhaps that has taken a little out of my race but I much rather expect it is the illness and lack of training which has taken its toll.
